Job Schedule Range: 56 Hourly rate: $39.43 - $42.89 Depending on experience. Purpose of Position Under the supervision of the Director of Fiscal Services, coordinate complex professional accounting responsibilities and processes related to the establishment, maintenance, reconciliation, and reporting of financial and statistical records and payroll. Reporting Reports to the Director of Fiscal Services Employment Status Full-time (FLSA Non-exempt) Location District Administration, Business Services Essential Functions Compile data and prepare financial statements, records, or reports. Prepare financial documents for management approval to be posted to the general ledger and the county treasury. Assist with fiscal year-end activities, including reconciling accounts, adjustments to the general ledger, analysis, and posting of expenditure and revenue accruals and their reversals. Perform complex accounting tasks related to payroll reconciliation with the general ledger and budget. Prepare monthly cash flow reports from general ledger activity. Reconcile district cash bank accounts and cash funds to the county treasury monthly, including adjusting journal entries. Assist in developing and implementing accounting processes and procedures to optimize the MUNIS ERP system. Analyze processes and systems, making recommendations for improvements. Assist internal and external auditors with schedules, reports, and data requests. Maintain punctual and consistent attendance. Other Functions Perform related duties as assigned. Serve as backup for related accounting and budget positions. Indoor work environment with some travel to district schools and facilities. Perform activities requiring hearing, speaking, seeing, sitting, walking, dexterity, bending, reaching, and driving. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, especially in a K-12 public education environment. Experience with computer-based enterprise accounting systems, MS Excel, Google applications, and similar platforms. Understanding of public school district organization, operations, policies, and objectives. Ability to train and supervise others. Ability to produce detailed financial reports and reconciliations. Ability to work collaboratively with staff, vendors, and other stakeholders. Strong communication skills, both oral and written. Education, Training, and Experience Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in accounting, business administration, or financial management, with 1-5 years of responsible accounting experience, preferably in the public sector. CPA certification is desirable.
