THIS POSTING WILL BE USED FOR ON-GOING RECRUITMENT AND WILL REMAIN OPEN UNITL FILLED.
This position coordinates public education and media activities to prevent drug misuse and overdose in New Mexico. This includes creating and overseeing the development of health promotion and educational materials in conjunction with program staff and both internal and external partners statewide (for example, the NMDOH Harm Reduction Program), and supporting work on CDC-funded projects for information and data dissemination. It is critical that the person in this position understands prevention based on the public health approach and can design information campaigns informed by health education theory or can demonstrate their ability to learn and implement this approach.

Bachelors degree in communication, Health Education, Health Promotion, Education or related field with 4 years of experience working with diverse partners across state agencies, health systems, and in communities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including meeting facilitation, and good understanding of graphic design and data visualization. Able to analyze media messaging critically. Flexible, able to work independently as part of a fast-paced team. Experience with federal grants and managing contracts with media partners plus familiarity with drug overdose prevention work in New Mexico or elsewhere preferred.
Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Guidance and Counseling, Education, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Criminology and/or Family Studies/Services and four (4) years of any combination of experience including working with communities, working on health or social service related matters, social work/case management experience, behavioral health and/or health care. Work is performed in an office setting: late hours and weekends work may be required. Will be exposed to regular periods of video display terminal and keyboard usage and stressful situations. Travel may be required. Incumbent will work under stress and frequent time constraints. Must have own mode of transportation. Incumbent may be required to furnish a personal vehicle for carrying out assignments.
