Job Description

Title: AV Technician - Lead

Location: Pflugerville, TX

Pay Rate: $26 - 30/HR

Job Type: Contract

Start Date: April 21st

GTS is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable AV Technician (Level 1 or Level 2) to assist with the installation and support of audiovisual (AV) equipment across the Austin area. The ideal candidate will play a key role in the successful execution of AV-related projects, including the installation and configuration of audio/video systems, microphones, projectors, cameras, and server room components. This individual will help ensure all systems are deployed accurately, tested thoroughly, and documented according to company standards.

Key Responsibilities:

· Unbox, inspect, and prepare audiovisual (AV) equipment including projectors, televisions, and related hardware.

· Apply asset tags and accurately document inventory data using spreadsheets or asset management systems.

· Safely remove and process legacy AV equipment for decommission or relocation.

· Install wall-mounted projectors, ultra-short throw projectors, and flat panel displays with precise alignment and secure mounting practices.

· Run, terminate, and label low-voltage cabling including Cat5e, Cat6, and HDMI for AV and network connectivity.

· Install and configure AV peripherals such as cameras, microphones, wall control panels, and amplification systems.

· Demonstrate proficiency or willingness to learn best practices for installing and supporting AV systems including projectors, TVs, video conferencing gear, and classroom technology.

· Reconnect and test existing AV components as needed to ensure complete and functional setups.

· Follow structured cable management practices and maintain the integrity of existing infrastructure.

· Perform functionality testing and basic system configuration to ensure optimal AV performance.

· Maintain a clean and professional job site by managing debris and restoring the workspace to its original condition.

· Provide excellent customer service by communicating project progress and obtaining sign-off upon completion of work.

· Travel to job sites and partner locations as required for equipment pickup, drop-off, or support.

Qualifications:

Level 1:

· 0–1 years of relevant AV or technical installation experience.

· Basic understanding of AV components and hardware tools.

· Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

· Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision.

Level 2:

· 1–3 years of hands-on AV installation or IT field service experience.

· Familiarity with interactive projector systems and classroom AV setups.

· Ability to troubleshoot and escalate installation or technical issues effectively.

· Comfortable with independent fieldwork and time-sensitive tasks.

Requirements:

· Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work on ladders or step stools.

· Proficiency with Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel.

· Excellent verbal communication and customer service skills.

· Willingness to travel throughout the Austin area.

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time; Must be able to lift/push/pull 50lbs

Other Requirements:

  • Must pass a satisfactory standard criminal background check upon hire.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
