Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Material Handler to support the efficient supply of materials to inspection lines and assembly presses. This role is responsible for staging materials, managing outgoing containers, performing basic assembly and finishing tasks, and ensuring the smooth flow of materials between departments. The Material Handler will work in a rotating shift environment and must be capable of working safely and efficiently.

 

Job Description

  • Supply inspection lines and assembly presses with materials needed for part processing, including empty containers, pallets, partial pallets, reject bins, grinding stones, gauges, etc.
  • Stage materials required for the next part to be processed on the inspection line.
  • Stage the next part to be processed on the assembly press.
  • Manage the outgoing flow of containers, including finished boxes, pallets, partial bins, and reject bins.
  • Complete packaging of finished goods by labeling and sealing containers as required.
  • Safely build pallets per established requirements.
  • Log completed pallets and move them to the designated outgoing location.
  • Efficiently move materials from inspection and assembly lines to the staging area for warehouse transfer.
  • Maintain empty container kanbans, including bins and boxes.
  • Perform routine safety checks of equipment and actively support the safety program.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards to ensure a clean and organized work environment.
  • Read and understand standard operating instructions for operating and safety procedures.
  • Perform equipment changeover operations to ensure safety, quality, and productivity are maintained.
  • Accurately record data into the plant's electronic database system.
  • Demonstrate acute visual acuity, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
  • May assist in training other personnel on unit operations within the department.
  • As needed, perform visual inspection of finished parts for defects and conduct minor finishing and basic assembly operations.
  • Understand the operation of HMI (Human-Machine Interface) to enter data into the LAN database system.
  • Solve equipment problems independently or in collaboration with others.
  • Use small tools such as rulers, clippers, and scrapers to complete inspection and assembly tasks.   

 

Skills Required

  • Basic functional knowledge of English, both spoken and written.
  • Basic math skills and experience using measurement tools such as rulers and gauges.
  • Experience using small tools such as clippers, scrapers, and Allen wrenches.
  • Ability to work efficiently and safely in a fast-paced, shift-based environment.
  • Ability to interact with HMI systems and databases.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

 

Education

  • Have a High School Diploma or GED.

 

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods while performing job tasks.
  • Ability to wear and utilize all required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hat, safety glasses, work gloves, hearing protection, safety shoes/boots, and long pants.
  • Work in an 8-hour, rotating shift operation with possible overtime as needed.
