Position Type: Student Support Services Date Posted: 6/9/2025 Location: Northampton Middle School/Northampton High School Date Available: 08/14/2025 Position Title Library Media Clerk Description To work in partnership with the Library Media Specialist to make the Library Media Center an inviting place for children and adults to find, use, and create materials and other resources using multi-media technology to enhance learning. Reports To Library Media Specialist in cooperation with the Building Principal and Assistant Principal Qualifications Minimum high school diploma. Good knowledge of and interest in literature. Ability to get along well with others, especially children. Demonstrated ability to keep records and make reports. Willingness to learn about changing technologies. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the School Board may find appropriate and acceptable. Performance Responsibilities Know and effectively communicate the Division philosophy and mission. Maintain electronic database in the library automation system. Assist students and teachers in the selection, creation, and location of a wide range of media resources. Oversee circulation of materials and equipment. Assist students with research. Instruct students in the use of the card catalogue and other search technology. Cares for library materials; including managing book stock according to accepted library practice, shelving materials daily, repairing damaged materials, maintaining bar codes, etc. Prepare teachers requests for audio-visual media and computer software. Prepare orders for Library Media Specialist's signature. Assist in maintaining a clean Library Media Center. Perform various clerical tasks. Act as a substitute for the Media Specialist in their absence Terms of Employment Contract Length: 189 days FLSA Status: Non- Exempt Salary to be established by the School Board in accordance with the Classified Salary Scale (Paraprofessional). Evaluation Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with School Board policy on the evaluation of personnel.
