Job Title: Project Manager – Oil & Gas / Hydrocarbon Industry

Location: Multiple Locations in the US (Bellingham, WA, Billings, MT, Bismarck, ND, Minneapolis, MN, Spokane, WA, Vancouver, WA)

Job Type: Permanent

Pay Rate: $140,000 - $160,000 per year

Shift: Regular, Mon-Fri, 40 hours/week

Job Description:

The Project Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, monitoring, and managing multi-discipline engineering activities and resources to execute all stages of small- to mid-cap retrofit projects, from initiation through closeout. The ideal candidate must have an engineering background and project experience in the pulp & paper industry, petroleum refining, hydrocarbons, high tech, or specialty chemicals. This position holds single-point accountability to organize, integrate, and lead the project team to successfully meet project objectives.

Reporting:

The position reports administratively to the Manager of Projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain efficient and effective interaction with project stakeholders, defining and managing expectations.
  • Ensure all contractual obligations are fulfilled.
  • Focus on client care and monitor satisfaction, seeking management support when necessary.
  • Review and understand proposals, contracts, and associated risks.
  • Manage proprietary and confidential information in compliance with requirements.
  • Develop Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) for projects.
  • Establish project scope, cost, schedule, and risk management plans.
  • Define project roles, responsibilities, and interfaces to ensure clarity and effectiveness.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, identifying dependencies, critical paths, and deliverables.
  • Manage project risks by developing and implementing risk response strategies.
  • Initiate and implement changes as necessary while ensuring proper documentation and communication.
  • Communicate project expectations clearly and concisely to all stakeholders.
  • Routinely monitor and report on project progress, cost, and risks while identifying trends and taking corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensure timely submission and approval of deliverables and closeout documentation.
  • Review and approve invoices while monitoring and expediting payments when necessary.

Education, Skills, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Chemical or Mechanical preferred), with preference for licensed Professional Engineers (PE).
  • Minimum 10 years of experience, with a background in the pulp & paper industry, petroleum refining, hydrocarbons, high tech, or specialty chemicals preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of critical path scheduling techniques using Microsoft Project and/or Primavera P6.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing capital projects, preferably small- to mid-cap retrofit projects.
  • Experience managing project work across multiple remote locations.
  • Willingness to travel to domestic job sites on a routine basis.

Certifications, Credentials, and Licenses:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is desirable.
  • Eligibility to obtain or currently hold a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) is required.

  • Must be capable and willing to visit client sites, wear required personal protective equipment, and comply with safety policies.
  • Drug and alcohol testing will be conducted at employment initiation and periodically thereafter, as required.
