Position Overview: Diman Regional is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Spanish teacher to join our high school faculty. The ideal candidate will inspire students to learn and appreciate the Spanish language and Hispanic cultures. Job Description & Responsibilities: Teaching and Curriculum Development - Teach Spanish classes for grades 9-12, ranging from beginner to advanced levels
- Create engaging lesson plans that align with Massachusetts language learning standards
- Develop and implement a variety of teaching methods to cater to different learning styles
- Incorporate technology and multimedia resources to enhance language learning
- Collaborates with members of the Social Studies Department
- Routinely analyzes data for the purpose of improving instruction
- Works with department head to effectively manage classroom discipline
- Attends faculty and department meetings
- Offers one after school help day per week (in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement)
Student Assessment and Support - Evaluate student progress through tests, projects, and class participation
- Provide constructive feedback to help students improve their language skills
- Offer additional support to struggling students through office hours or tutoring sessions
- Individualizes instruction as needed
- Able to read, apply, and provide feedback on 504 and IEP needs within the classroom
- Responds to all communication within 48 hours
- Grades assignments and enters grades into teh student information system in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement
Cultural Awareness - Organize cultural events and activities to promote Hispanic heritage and traditions
- Lead or assist with Spanish language clubs and honor societies, as appropriate and in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement
*Adheres to all other aspects of the Collective Bargaining Agreement
Qualifications Education and Certification - Bachelor's degree in Spanish, Education, or related field (Master's degree preferred)
- Valid Massachusetts teaching license in Spanish at the secondary level
Skills and Experience - Fluency in Spanish (speaking, reading, and writing)
- Strong understanding of Spanish grammar, literature, and culture
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills
- Ability to apply MTSS, UDL, and PBIS as instructional strategies
- Utilizes UBD as an instructional design method (preferred)
Personal Qualities - Passion for teaching and inspiring young learners
- Creativity and adaptability in lesson planning and teaching methods
- Patience and ability to work with students of diverse backgrounds and abilities
- Strong interpersonal skills for collaborating with colleagues and communicating with parents
