SummaryThe primary purpose of the position is to ensure that non-expandable (NX) supplies and material are distributed to areas serviced by Supply Chain Management (SCM). Provides service lines and other hospital functional areas with equipment and material. Assignments include but are not limited to: scanning, barcoding, receiving, storing, and the distribution of non-expandable equipment and materials.DutiesHelpThe work requires knowledge of applicable policies and procedures as well as inventory systems to include but not limited to AEMS/MERS, SOARD/Maximo or similar NX inventory management procedures and SCM processes. Supported units may be offsite requiring roundtrip travel time in excess of 90 minutes. Tours of duty may require afternoon, evening, and/or overnight shifts.Reviews existing stock and manufacturers' catalogs, manuals and listings to obtain substitute or interchangeable items to supply in lieu of items requisitioned.Works with customers and SCM staff on the proper identification of items to be substituted.Communicates with customers and vendors to obtain information regarding availability and functionality of non-expandable equipment and supplies.Through periodic inventory assessments and discussions with service line staff and clinical personnel, identifies gaps and/or discrepancies and provides information on new or changed items and equipment.Position provides guidance to customers on identification of material through research of original equipment manufacturers part catalog for part numbers, descriptions, and size of parts needed.Performs research of old manufacturers code and part numbers, covering requisitioned material in support of jobs which have not occurred, or which did not utilize all the stock on hand to identify valid identification number.As required and based on response to Requests for National Stock Number, processes applicable catalog update transactions in accordance with current published procedures.Periodically, reviews assigned manufacturers code and part numbers for continued validity and takes necessary action to update, delete, or dispose of in accordance with published guidelines.Position coordinates drop off of new or transferred equipment and pick up of turn in equipment; scanner pick up and drop off for annual EIL inventory; and delivery times and area with contractors and vendors with other VA activities, contractors or manufacturers through personal transactions.Reviews numerous computer output listings in the performance of research and identification of supplies as well as prepares system inquires and interpret the responses.Receives non-expandable equipment and material into the VA Health Care System and supported catchment area.Unpacks/uncrates supplies from shipping cartons and properly scans, bar codes, and stores supplies and material.Performs other duties as assignedWork Schedule: VariesVirtual: This is not a virtual position.Position Description/PD#: Supply Technician (NX)/PD99832SRelocation/Recruitment Incentives: Not AuthorizedPermanent Change of Station (PCS): Not AuthorizedFinancial Disclosure Report: Not requiredRequirementsHelpConditions of employmentYou must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this jobAll applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed 4 years of education above high school in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite.
