Salary Range : $125,000.00 To $130,000.00 Annually The General Manager is responsible for managing and directing site papermill operations while promoting a culture of safety and respect. They ensure that approved products are manufactured on-schedule and within quality standards while controlling costs. They are on-call continuously and frequently called back to the plant during off-duty hours. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Promote worker health and safety and prevent workplace injuries by identifying and eliminating workplace hazards. Demonstrate a commitment to employee participation, training and education, and continuous program improvement. Manage the day-to-day operations of the mill from purchasing and scheduling paper machines to quality control and outbound shipping. Develop the manufacturing plan and establish procedures for maintaining high standards to ensure that products conform to established customer and company quality standards. Achieve optimum employee levels, control overhead costs and manage raw material usage ensuring profitability of the operation. Direct personnel to achieve productivity goals in a manner consistent with established manufacturing and safety procedures. Effectively communicate decisions, policies, and activities to all site employees, which will impact their jobs, workplace, and expectations. Consult with senior management and HR as appropriate to hire, train, develop and evaluate staff. Take corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy. Ensure compliance with current federal, state and local regulations. Ensure the operations of the mill are in compliance with environmental standards. Direct and coordinate various programs essential to manufacturing (e.g., training, safety, housekeeping, cost reduction, worker involvement, security, etc.). Establish, maintain and manage budgets, goals and objectives. Plan and execute major projects, (e.g., mill layout changes, installation of capital equipment, major repairs, etc.). Work effectively and relate well with others across various departments and business segments. Exhibit a professional manner to maintain constructive working relationships. EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A Bachelor's Degree in a related field and a minimum of 10 years' experience managing a papermaking facility preferred.
